The picturesque backdrop of the Town Hall has made Wernigerode a Mecca for young engaged couples for many years now. Situated right in the centre of the colourful village, this historical house offers all amenities necessary for making your wedding day a very special day.

In every corner of this over 500 years-old edifice, the couple and their guests can feel the historical atmosphere of Wernigerode's Town Hall - no matter if the ceremony will take place in our small romantic wedding room or in the larger hall for up to 40 guests. This was, after all, the first Hall of Citizens in our town, and it has been modernized and prepared for weddings in 2000.

Of course, many couples want an exceptional and special experience for this exceptional and special day. The staff of our registry office are always happy to help couples with their special ideas for their wedding. This does not only apply to the musical framework provided by a pianist or the first glass of champagne after the ceremony.

We can also plan a wedding according to old traditions, or make special arrangements with the couple and their guests, or simply see to a plain and modest "wedding at the desk".

It is our aim to make the wedding day as attractive as possible for the couple. For this reason, we are also offering the possibility to use Wernigerode Castle as a backdrop for the ceremony.

Those who love a feudal, knightly atmosphere will have the opportunity to say "I do" in the former Smoking Parlour high above the rooftops of the town.
